Welcome to the Niagara Folk Arts Festival, Canada's oldest continually-running Heritage Festival. This festival is a beautiful blend of the cultures and people that make Canada a nation to be envied.
During the festival the multicultural community opens its doors and its hearts and welcomes you to experience the beauty and uniqueness of their cultures, traditions, art, music and food. There are dances, exhibitions, live entertainment and more.
May 8: Niagara Folk Arts Festival Ambassador's Ball.
This is a prelude to the festival. This is a black tie optional event, persons are encouraged to wear their national attire. This is a ticketed event , please see website for further details.
May 12: Niagara Folk Arts Festival Cultural Culinary Crawl.
In partnership with the Downtown St. Catharines Association, this will iclude a guided walking tour of historical downtown St. Catharines visiting 4 cultural culinary partners for food and beverage offerings. This is a ticketed event. See website for further details.
May 16-29: Folks Arts Open House
Niagara Folk Arts Festival members open their doors to everyone. This is a great way to travel the world without leaving Niagara. Many groups offer foods and drinks, cultural presentations and cultural displays. This a free of charge event.
May 29: Niagara Folk Arts Festival "Jump Up"
Between 6p-10p Montebello Park in Downtown St Catharines will be alive with Reggae and Ska. Caribbean style food will also highlight this event. More details to follow.
May 30-31: Niagara Folk Arts Festival in the Park
Taking place in Montebello Park in downtown St Catharines. Enjoy family friendly activities,workshops and interactive sessions. Cultural food, vendors, a beer gardens and crafters will be featured as well. This is a free admission event but donations are greatfully accepted.
May 30: Niagara Folk Arts Festival Parade
The parade makes it way through the dowtown core of St Catharines winding their way through Montebello Park. Participants are dressed in national dress and colours making this colour spectacular.
May 30: Underground Railroad Experience
This is a ticketed event see website for details. This guided tour will take ticket holders to historical locations significant to the Underground Railroad throughout the Niagara Region. The tour will end in Montebello Park to enjoy the cultural event taking place there.
May 31: Niagara Folk Arts Festival Street Race
Between 8a-1p take part in 1k , 5k, and or 10k races in downtown St Catharines.
