Have you ever 'seen' a radio play? Most would say no, so here is your chance. This version of the classic holiday story takes place on stage, but as if a live radio show is being performed over the air. Actors stand at the microphones and speak the lines as the Foley Artist makes the clever sound effects right before your eyes, be it footsteps in the snow or a squeaky wheelchair. We know the story, George Bailey is faced with a challenge that leaves him contemplating suicide. Clarence, George’s bumbling 292 year old guardian angel shows George what life would have been like, if in fact, he had never been born. Reality proves that his life is worth living and on Christmas Eve, while George is surrounded by his loving family, an angel receives his wings. Award winning U.K. composer John Hogg has created a brand new score for Lyndesfarne's production which is woven throughout the play and helps to move the story along. The title song was recorded by The Westenders from the London cast of Les Miserables and the CD will be available for purchase at the theatre. Other versions of the play have heralded praise such as “...a lovable, evocative piece.” (Anita Gates, New York Times). So please join us this holiday season for a brand new version of It's A Wonderful Life.
