Remigio Pereira of The Tenors, Sun Media Niagara and Centre for the Arts, Brock University have joined forces to present a benefit concert in support of Free the Children. This jammed-packed event will feature performances from Neverest, Remigio Pereira, the Niagara Symphony Orchestra conducted by Bradley Thachuk, Young Stitch, Sese, Chris Witoski, ÁLI and keynote speaker Marc Kielburger, the co-founder of Free the Children, and co-founder and co-CEO of Me to We. The benefit concert will take place on Wednesday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sean O’Sullivan Theatre with a special VIP meet and greet with Remigio Pereira and Marc Kielburger at 6:30 p.m. in the David S. Howes Theatre lobby.

This inaugural event in support of Free the Children is the first of its kind in Niagara. Free the Children is the world’s largest network of kids helping kids through education, and supports both local and global initiatives. Proceeds from the concert will go to one local initiative and a global initiative. The event focuses on the message that together we can make a difference in the world. It will create awareness among young people to take action towards social justice and empower them to “be the change that they want to see in the world.” (Gandhi)

“Kids are our future. Brightening their day today will brighten our days tomorrow. Using our voices to entertain is one thing but using it for the betterment of humanity is everything” said Remigio Pereira, a Niagara-native and one part of the award-winning, internationally acclaimed group, The Tenors (formally The Canadian Tenors).

A selection of artists and speakers will participate in school workshops and assemblies on Tuesday, May 21 at Mother Teresa Elementary and two school performances on Wednesday, May 22 at the Centre for the Arts. These events will educate and inspire our future generation of leaders and show youth that they possess the power to create positive change in Niagara and beyond.
