Well New Year's was a hit, with the beautiful snowy backdrop of Niagara Falls!
Over 60 thousand people came out to enjoy the evening together. Who will be our performers next year?!
The New Years celebration in Niagara Falls is surely Canada’s biggest and best of the night. Come and celebrate with us and enjoy two spectacular fireworks displays planned for approximately 8:45 p.m. and midnight. This year’s displays will be bigger than ever, featuring 2,000 pounds of fireworks launched from the Skylon Tower, down in the Niagara Gorge, and for the first time, directly above the Falls themselves!
The outdoor celebration also features a variety of food and beverage vendors, as well as an outdoor licensed area. As always, the presence of security and policing will be on-site to ensure everyone’s safety throughout the night.
Last year’s New Year’s Eve broadcast on Global peaked at 12:01 a.m. with 1.9 million viewers with a total reach of 4.8 million (2+ national) tuning in, while the annual event itself attracted over 60,000 people to Queen Victoria Park.
The Niagara Parks Commission (NPC), Entertainment Tonight (ET) Canada and Niagara Falls New Year’s Eve event partners are pleased to announce an exciting roster of musical talent for Canada’s largest televised live New Year’s Eve celebration. This highly anticipated free show begins at 7:30 p.m. in Queen Victoria Park overlooking mighty Niagara Falls.
Electro-pop trio Dragonette will take the stage, followed by a high-energy performance by multiple JUNO Award-winning Vancouver rock group Hedley. Chart-topping GRAMMY® Award winner Nelly Furtado will keep the crowd dancing as the clock ticks down to midnight. The performers, along with the hosts, will gather onstage to countdown to 2013.
Hedley, Nelly Furtado & Dragonette
From sold-out arena shows cross-country to the group’s 15 Juno nominations, Hedley’s intense musicianship and penetrating lyrics have made them something like a wildly popular cult act.
Canada’s foremost electropop trio, Dragonette, has sold over 300,000 singles in Canada which is a true testament to the irresistible power of the group’s call to the dance floor.
CAN’T MAKE IT IN PERSON
For those who prefer to celebrate at home, ET Canada will go live from Niagara Falls at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on Global during its regular timeslot. Don’t miss exclusive interviews with the performers, and go behind-the-scenes at the concert venue. Later, the two-hour, coast-to-coast live television broadcast countdown will begin at 10 p.m. ET/PT, hosted by ET’s Cheryl Hickey, Matte Babel and Global Noon News host Rosey Edeh.
