October 25th to October 27th 2013
The Niagara Falls International Marathon celebrated its inaugural running in 1974. The race was known as the Skylon Marathon. Beginning during the first wave of the North American running boom, it quickly became a favourite as it was, and still is, the only marathon in the world that starts in one country and finishes in another… a destination marathon that crosses an international border, providing the runners with an experience of a lifetime. Niagara Falls International Marathon is also a Boston Qualifier.

5K Race
The 5K Race is a great introduction to the sport of running. It provides a challenge to new runners but can also be a great leisure course for the more advanced runner. This race will allow children to participate with their parents; a fantastic way to encourage family interaction. It is also an ideal way to fundraise for sports teams, associations, groups and schools. We encourage all participants to use this race to collect pledges and raise funds for the charity of their choice. Additionally, the 5K is also a great way for the corporate community to team-build while promoting activity through the workplace.
The start of the 5K begins at 8:30am.
Due to the demand, we have increased the CAP to 750 participants in this event.

Runners will follow the Niagara River Parkway and just above water level, it is elegantly landscaped and meticulously kept. 200 years ago, British and American troops fought up and down this area, but today it is an image of tranquility. On the river side of the course, the most notable landmarks are the Marina, boat launches, parks and picnicking areas. By the time you reach the north end of Navy Island near Chippawa, the river is well over a mile wide.
Coming into Chippawa, the course bears left around an inlet and leads into the picturesque village. As you approach that turn you see the billowing spray of the Falls for the first time, as well as the first intake gates of the hydropower system that furnishes electricity to both countries. The course then moves back into the majesty of the Parkway. The Niagara Parks Commission’s elegant flowerbeds make their first appearance and Dufferin Islands appears on the left. The last half-mile, gratifyingly downhill and flat, takes you to the brink of the Falls.
