Niagara Falls Canada - A Summer Family Vacation Destination Where Families Can Unplug and Reconnect
How the family vacation has changed. The Alphabet Game has been replaced by personal DVD players on the annual road trip. And the kids' favorite hotel amenity isn't the swimming pool anymore; it's the in-room video games. There are precious few places where children can unplug without pleading boredom, and where parents feel they are finally getting some quality family time-and having fun themselves. Niagara Falls is one of these special places. From thrilling rides to an array of nature attractions, a Niagara Falls family vacation has something to offer the whole family.
A Niagara family vacation naturally starts at the Falls. While the Falls themselves are an awe-inspiring sight for all ages, there's much more to visiting this phenomenon than a great photo session. Niagara Falls sightseeing can include getting up close and personal with the Falls-and a little wet-on the Maid of the Mist Boat Tour or seeing the Falls from the inside out on the Journey Behind the Falls. A truly spectacular sight and a memorable family moment, the Niagara Falls Fireworks Show happens on Friday and Sunday nights at 10 p.m. It's worth keeping the kids up for and can be seen from many of the Fallsview guestrooms available in the city.
Many visitors don't realize the sheer number of activities in Niagara beyond the Falls. For instance, a Niagara vacation can be a fun education in the natural environment for the whole family. The Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory is home to 2000 free-floating butterflies in a rainforest setting, and Bird Kingdom features 500 different birds of 80 different species. Water lovers love Marineland Canada. Marineland is the largest Whale habitat in the world, with Beluga and Killer Whales among many other marine species, and an amusement park makes it even more exciting for kids.
Like the Marineland amusement park, entertaining games and rides are never far away in Niagara Falls. The Niagara Skywheel takes visitors, young and old, on an exciting ride 53 meters over the Niagara Falls horizon. The landmark Skylon Tower gives everyone a chance to do something they want to do, from fine dining to shopping to the Skylon Tower Fun Centre-an interactive indoor entertainment centre.
On all family vacations, there's going to be some pure kid-friendly fun, and there are plenty of places around Niagara Falls to have it. Brick City invites kids to enjoy an entire city made of Lego®, while Fun House features climbs, twirls, and twists through a Fish Bowl room, Jail House, and much more on the famous Clifton Hill - Niagara's street of fun. At Nightmare's Fear Factory, for older kids and adults, visitors either make it through and get a spot on the Survivor List or run scared midway with permanent placement on the Chicken List.
While the activities that make up a Niagara Falls family vacation may vary, one thing is for sure-there's no way to leave Niagara without having spent some memorable time together as a family - without T.V. or video games.
