While walking the paths of Dufferin Islands yesterday I came across a crew putting up one of the final light displays for this years Winter Festival of Lights. The festival begins on November 9th and continues until January 31 of 2014.
Dufferin Islands is always one of the more popular areas to visit along the 6 kilometre route of the festival.
Incidentally, Dufferin Islands was at one time only two islands. The nine other islands were created in the early 1900’s when the nearby Toronto Power Station was being built. The soil taken from the site to make room for the spillways was deposited in Dufferin Islands creating the new islands.
