The Niagara Parks will join with Forests Ontario, as part of a province-wide free community tree planting event this Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to noon.

This year’s aim is to plant 40,000 new trees and seedlings on over 1,300 hectares of park. Some of this year’s planting occurs on property directly opposite the Niagara Glen Nature Centre at 3050 Niagara Parkway.

The event takes place either rain or shine and volunteers are asked to bring their own shovel and lots of energy.

For more information: 1-877-646-1193.

Following the planting free guided hiking tours of the Niagara Glen will begin at 12:00 p.m.
