I just read that the nearby Niagara on the Lake Golf Club is ranked as the 9th best “Short Course in the World Outside the U.S.” It’s the only Canadian course on the Golf Magazine list.
The course is located on the southern shore of Lake Ontario and is a semi-private 9 hole course. It’s also the only surviving golf course in continental North America on its original land and has been in continuous operation since 1875.The course was built on historic lands where battles of the War of 1812 took place. In fact, still located on the property is Fort Mississauga. Some members can still remember when years ago the moat around the fort designed to keep the Americans at bay was used as a blind approach shot to a hidden green on Hole #2.
Niagara on the Lake Golf Course is one of many top-notch courses found in Niagara.
