The countdown is on until this year's Winter Festival of Lights kicks off on November 3rd!  The winter tradition of more than two million glowing lights, has been a staple in Niagara winters for more than 35 years.  The three month festival, which runs until the last day of January, attracts over a million global visitors each year and is only getting better with age. We’ve put together a list of events happening throughout the festival that you will want to a part of!

Opening Ceremonies

The official festival kick off will be taking place on Saturday, November 3rd in Queen Victoria Park.  This free family-fun event is the perfect way to start the holiday season.  Be among the first to tour the 8km festival route and create a holiday tradition to last for years to come.

Cascades of Fire

For the first time ever, Cascades of Fire International Fireworks Competition will be a part of the Winter Festival of Lights.  With six competing countries setting off amazing pyrotechnic displays accompanied by music, it’s sure to be an event you won’t want to miss.

Winter Fireworks

Throughout the Winter Festival of Lights season there will be 20 fireworks shows. Beginning on the night of opening ceremonies, the shows will continue every Friday of the festival at 9pm plus daily shows for the holidays between December 23 and December 29th.

Deck the Falls

This one of a kind walking tour that takes place over the first three weekends of December will have you in the holiday spirit in no time.  You’ll get to experience culinary samples, holiday beverages, desserts and treats, photo opportunities, life-size games, live entertainment, craft workshops and more!

The Sparkle Lighting Awards

Created to nurture community holiday spirit, the sparkle lighting awards recognize the most festive residential and commercial property holiday displays.  Judged on factors like creativity and colour coordination, festival goers are encouraged to view these wonderful displays and spread holiday cheer.
