I just received a News Release from Tina Myers, Program Director for the festival outlining that this season’s WFOL was one of the best ever. Tina says a market research company concluded 1.2 million people visited the festival this season with 82 % visitors from outside our area. The visits resulted in $14.5 million in tourism related spending.
In addition the larger lighting expansion in Dufferin Islands resulted in an increase of 43% vehicle traffic in the area. It was recorded that 61,551 automobiles passed through Dufferin Islands.
A big round of applause for all those involved in this season’s Ontario Power Generation Winter Festival of Lights.
