With the arrival of spring, many hearts turn to romance and Niagara Falls.
Here are a few versions as to how Niagara Falls got this romantic reputation.
It began in the springtime of 1801, when American aristocrat Theodosia Burr, daughter of the future U.S. Vice-President, Auron Burr, married Joseph Alston in Albany, N.Y. with nine pack horses and a group of servants embarked on a ,”Bridal tour” to Niagara Falls. Another famed couple, Jerome Bonaparte (younger brother of Napoleon) and his Baltimore bride Elizabeth Patterson made their trek a few years later in 1804 and the Niagara honeymoon was born!
So now, you know.
