Illumination of the Falls Continues
As Winter Festival of Lights came to an end mid-January, thousands of lights and displays were turned off for another year. However, that doesn't mean the Falls have been left in the dark - nightly Illumination of the waterfalls occurs year-round, every night of the year. That means that whenever when you visit, the Falls continue to be turned into an incredible multi-coloured water and light masterpiece.
In 2016, the Xenon lights that lit up the falls for many years were replaced with new, energy-efficient LED lighting. These new lights now provide twice the previous lighting levels, programmable lighting, and a wider spectrum of colours.
This Valentines Day, February 14th, the Falls will be basked in the colours of pink and red for 15 minutes each hour starting at 6:30 p.m. until 1 a.m.
The illumination of the Falls has been provided since 1925 free of charge by the Niagara Falls Illumination Board.
