Unofficially this long Canadian Holiday Victory Day Weekend is the unofficial beginning of the summer season in Canada.
In Niagara Falls there are plenty of free activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Victoria Day is a federal Canadian public holiday celebrated on the last Monday before, May 25th in honour of Queen Victoria’s birthday.
Plenty of events take place in Queen Victoria Park near opposite the falls.
Here are just a few of them.
Canada’s longest running fireworks get underway for the summer on Friday, May 15th ,Sunday, May 17 and Monday May 18th.The fireworks explode at 10 p.m.
The free Niagara Parks Coca Cola concert series of live entertainment occur on the same night as the fireworks beginning at 8 p.m. beneath the Illumination Tower at the foot of Murray Hill.
Downriver at the Niagara Parks Nature Area free guided nature tours into the glen to the edge of the treacherous Niagara Gorge begins on Saturday, May 16 at 11 a.m.
Seasonal GO Train service from Toronto to Niagara Falls also begins this holiday weekend.
