I was out on my bike a few days ago and stopped off at the Niagara Falls Hostel (4549 Cataract Ave) at the foot of Bridge Street near the intersection of River Road. The hostel is about a half-hour walk from the falls.

Salome Torres, owner and manager of the historic hostel (the building was built in 1885 as a rooming house) was kind enough to show me around. What a great operation.

First, if you’re not a member of Hostelling International do so; the $25.00 dollar membership will save you a bundle! This hostel has 6 bed quads that rent during high season (until the end of October) for $29.00 plus tax. Four bed quads go for $33.00 and a private room will cost you $84.00.The place is very clean with lots of facilities for those travelling on a budget. Who aren’t these days?

For those with a car, parking is free.

The hostel also has bikes for rent (they come with a helmet) that will allow you to travel all around Niagara Falls.

Here’s a photograph I took of Hostell Manager Salome Torres (second on the right) and a few travellers.
