Some may not know but Niagara Falls was the location of two Prisoner of War Camps during World War One and two.
One of these camps was located in a building that now occupies part of Niagara Falls Marineland .They were prisoners of World War Two and were held here in May of 1945 until, “permanent” camps could be built. In May of 1945 there was 35,000 P.O.W’s held in Canada.
The second location was the Armoury on Victoria Avenue built in 1911. This served as a POW Camp for prisoners of World War One. The Armoury is now a military museum open Wednesday through Saturday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
