The Niagara Parks Commission has announced the outdoor Oakes Garden Theatre at the foot of Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls is to undergo a major renovation.

The theatre which was built in 1935 will include restoration of the distinctive pergola. The pergola was dismantled in 2012 because of safety concerns. This new pergola will be anchored with steel, “structural spine” which will withstand our area’s wet conditions. The original stone from a local quarry will enhance the renovations which are hoped to be finished by the end of May. Janice Thomson, Chair of the NPC said the project will cost about $1.1 million.
