I’ve just finished putting up a new Canadian Flag on my flagpole that sits in front of my home. Like hundreds of other private citizens and Niagara businesses I’ll be lowering the flag to half-mast this Friday, November 11, Remembrance Day (U.S. Veteran’s Day) from sunrise to sunset to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the many world conflicts.
Originally called, “Armistice Day” it was to commemorate November 11, 1918. It was on the eleventh month of the eleventh hour of the eleventh day that World War I ended.
The Niagara Parks Commission is one of many Niagara businesses that will be lowering their flags to half-mast.
At 11 a.m. many of us will take a minute to remember those who gave their lives to keep us free.
Canadian Legions will also be having memorial services on November eleventh.
