Another summer long weekend is upon us. Although Civic Holiday isn’t Christmas or Thanksgiving, it still gives families a reason to come together! Having an extra day to plan a family getaway or mini vacay really makes it easier to visit from far distances - as we know travelling usually takes up a good chunk of the trip! Niagara Falls boasts being one of the best vacation destinations in Ontario, and we pride ourselves in having endless activities for everyone to enjoy!
Here are some popular activities to explore this long weekend!
1) Bird Kingdom
Niagara Falls is home to America's largest free-flying aviary! Once you walk into the Bird Kingdom you begin to encounter more than just birds, as you'll see snakes, tortoises, chameleons, bearded dragons and more during your visit! Get a family photo holding one of their friendly parrots – or rather – them holding you!
2) Niagara Speedway
Every kid (and Millennial parent)’s dream is to recreate a live Mario Kart adventure! Well here’s your chance! Niagara Speedway is known around here as the “Mario Kart Track” because of its unique multi-story loops and hilly roadway, it won’t be hard to convince your teenage kids to join in on this one!
3) Clifton Hill Fun Pass
Pick up the Clifton Hill Fun Pass and go crazy on our fun, Vegas-style street! From the Skywheel and the Movieland Wax Museum, to Wizard's Indoor Mini Putt and Zombie Attack, there are all kinds of incredible family-oriented attractions located all within a hop, skip and a jump away!
4) Niagara Freefall and Interactive Center
Experience what it would be like to jump from a plane! But without the plane! Or the jumping! Niagara Freefall offers indoor skydiving, lazerball, a rockwall, interactive games and even a mechanical bull (yep, even a mechanical bull). Capture all the best photos of your family members making embarrassing faces while doing any of these activities all in one place!
5) Niagara parks adventure pass
Skip the lines with the Niagara Adventure Pass! This pass lets you and your family experience all the exciting Falls attractions at one discounted purchase price. You can make a weekend of it and experience a ride on the Hornblower Niagara Cruises, Journey Behind the Falls, White Water Walk, Butterfly Conservatory and more!
6) Concert Series
Niagara Parks hosts the Niagara Concert Series, featuring two different concert events (Niagara Stage and Summer Music Series) taking place in Queen Victoria Park! You can enjoy FREE live music with your friends and family right into the evening! Bands play until 10:00pm and from there, our free, renowned fireworks display will take place from the Niagara Gorge, located conveniently a stone throw away from the concert area!
7) Safari niagara
Safari Niagara offers a spectacular 150-acre nature park, home to over 1000 animals both native and exotic! It also features interactive and educational presentations, a tram, paddle boats, ropes courses, jumping pillows, pedal-style go-karts and a splashpad! All included in the admission price!
8) Niagara Falls Illumination
Our illumination of the Niagara Falls is always a beautiful sight! Discover the stunning display of all three waterfalls lit up in glowing colours as the rushing water continues to flow into the night! Book a cruise with Hornblower and see it from a whole new and amazing perspective!
9) Wildplay Zipline to the Falls
A must-do, the zipline allows up to 4 people to parallel each other along the edge of the Niagara Gorge! It offers instant views of the Falls, a very memorable experience! Capture the ride with a go-pro and relive it over and over again! Wildplay also offers other adventures such as the Adventure Course!
