Niagara Glen features 9 trails covering 4 km (2.5 miles). Walk down 80 stairs into a deep gorge and explore trails through an ancient Carolinian forest. With trails ranging from shorter walks to longer hikes, you can pick the experience that best suits your time and the views you'd like to see.

With 4 kms (2.5 miles) of easy access trails, Heartland Forest is perfect for families and anyone looking for an accessible nature walk. This trail winds through 93 acres of wetland and Carolinian forest, featuring fun sculptures, observation decks, and plenty of wildlife including turtles, fish, and frogs in the ponds.

Made up of 10 acres of greenspace, Dufferin Islands offers winding paths and wooden footbridges that connect a series of small islands. Perfect for a relaxing walk in nature.

White Water Walk is perfect if you want to admire the powerful Niagara River up close on easy paced walk. The boardwalk is wheelchair accessible, with the exception of 2 small viewing areas that are accessed by stairs.

The Niagara River Recreation Trail is paved trail that runs along the Niagara River and divides into four scenic sections: Niagara-on-the-Lake to Queenston, Queenston to the Whirlpool Aero Car, Chippawa to Black Creek and Black Creek to Fort Erie. Each section will take approximately 1-2 hours at a leisurely pace.

Stay on marked trails & obey all posted signage

  • Only hike on the clearly marked trails
  • Before you begin a hike please read the signage thoroughly to ensure you understand all the notices for trail users
  • Venturing off marked trails can be dangerous to hikers leading to accidents or injury from unsafe terrain 
    • It can also inadvertently expose hikers to poison ivy that may be present in forested areas
    • Native plant species can also be irreparably damaged when hikers veer off the trails
