Tips to enjoy the Niagara Falls New Year’s Eve event comfortably and safely:
Plan ahead – Know the weather conditions by reviewing the weather forecast before leaving home (and often it can be a few degrees colder at the New Year’s Eve site given its location near the Niagara River)
Dress for the Weather – Dress warmly, in layers and cover all extremities to be prepared for all types of weather conditions
Locate places to warm up – Niagara Parks’ Queen Victoria Place, located across the street from the New Year’s Eve event site, will be open offering indoor public washrooms, Tim Hortons outlet, Queen Victoria Place Restaurant and Gift Shop. In addition, two WEGO buses will be located outside Queen Victoria Place on the Niagara Parkway to offer visitors another place to warm up.
As well, community partners involved in the New Year’s Eve festivities all offer restaurants and outlets open to the public.
Keep active – Move or walk around to generate body heat
Know how long you can stay outside – seek shelter when you know you feel too cold
Be aware – if you or someone around you shows signs of being too cold, seek assistance. There will be medical services on-site at the bottom of Murray Street.
