Niagara Glen and Nature Centre

Things To Do >

Overlooking the spectacular Niagara River, the Niagara Glen Nature Centre offers a wide array of refreshments and unique souvenirs.

The Niagara Glen is a unique spot of beauty deep in the Great Gorge that has been a designated Nature Reserve since 1992. Stairways lead to 4 km (2.5 mi) of paths that wind through a pristine pocket of Carolinian Forest, past boulders left behind as the Falls eroded through the area thousands of years ago.

Floral Clock

Things To Do >

This unique and stunning display is a very popular stop on the Niagara Parkway and is photographed almost as often as the Falls! The planted face is maintained by the Niagara Parks horticulture staff, while the mechanism is kept in working order by Ontario Power Generation. The floral design is changed twice each year - it features viola in the Spring and four cultivars of Alternanthera along with green and grey forms of Santolina Sage during the Summer and Fall. California Golden Privet and Blue Festuca Grass may be used for contrast.

Dufferin Islands is a popular area for locals and tourists alike. Made up of 10 acres of paradise, the quiet and secluded area contains several small islands connected by bridges and footpaths. In recent years, efforts have been made to further naturalize this area with the introduction of fish, the installation of bird feeding stations and bird boxes, as well as planting indigenous vegetation appropriate for this environment.

Drummond Hill Cemetery

Things To Do >

Drummond Hill Cemetery is a nationally recognized heritage site. It is most famously known as the battle grounds of the "Battle of Lundy's Lane", as well as the burial site of Laura Secord. Christopher Buchner purchased 400 acres of land from his father-in-law, James Forsythe, in 1799 and used the top of the hill as a burial ground. It later became the site of a fierce battle between the British and the Americans in 1814. The area became known as Drummond Hill, in honour of General Drummond.
