Frequently Asked Questions About The Hot Chocolate Trail
Is the Hot Chocolate Trail free?
You can download the Trail Map for free – there is a cost to enjoy the featured hot chocolates at each location. Pricing is included in the description for each location in the Trail Map.
Are the drinks full size or sample size?
The hot chocolates served at each participating location are full size drinks – not sample size. Some locations may offer child-size drinks, and some locations are offering hot chocolate with alcohol for adults. Details can be found in the Trail Map.
How do you enter the contest?
To enter the contest, you must first download the free Hot Chocolate Trail Map on the Niagara Falls Tourism Website. When you purchase a featured hot chocolate at a participating location, you can check-in at that location within the map. To check-in, select the location in the map, click “check-in” and you will be shown a QR code to scan. Each location has a unique QR code. You can scan one QR code per location per day. Does everyone in your group need to download the Hot Chocolate Trail map?
Only one person in your group needs to download the Trail Map to participate in the program. For the contest, you will scan the QR code at the participating location once for the group. If other people in your group want their own chance to enter to win, they will need to register for the program with their email address and download the Trail Map on their phone.
Is the Hot Chocolate Trail part of the Winter Festival of Lights?
This year, the Hot Chocolate Trail is a separate program and runs from November 28, 2025 to February 1, 2026. The Winter Festival of Lights runs from November 15, 2025 to January 4, 2026.
Hot Chocolate Trail Contest Rules & Regulations
How to Enter:
1. Download the official Niagara Falls Hot Chocolate Trail Map
2. Purchase a featured hot chocolate at a participating location (as listed in the Hot Chocolate Trail Map), open the trail map to that location, and scan the unique QR code at that location.
3. Each location has a unique QR code – the more locations you sip & savour at, the more chances to win! One (1) entry per participating location.
Prizes – Eight (8) prizes to be won, including:

Prize Draws
Four (4) winners will be randomly selected on each prize draw date. Prizes must be accepted as awarded, cannot be transferred, and have no cash value. Prizes range in approximate value from $25 to $100 CDN.
• Draw #1: January 6, 2026
• Draw #2: February 3, 2026
Winners will be notified by email and will be required to answer a skill-testing question. Winners must respond within 3 business days to claim their prize. If a prize is not claimed, another winner will be randomly selected.
Contest is open to residents of Canada, excluding Quebec, and the United States, who are over the age of majority. Employees, representatives, agencies and suppliers of Niagara Falls Tourism, its affiliates, and their immediate family members and persons living in the same household are not eligible to enter. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.
