The Niagara Falls Illumination Board will have the lights on Niagara Falls turned off for one hour this Saturday, March 19th between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. The reason? It’s taking part in the annual World Wildlife Global earth Hour initiative to raise awareness and support for action on the issue of climate change. This year’s campaign is entitled, “Shine a Light on Climate Change” with a focus on renewable energy sources, such as clean hydroelectric power produced in Niagara.

Don’t worry, after the one hour of darkness the lights will be turned back on the falls until 11 p.m.
